#ParaModeActivated - THE SPORT BETTING CRAZE IN NIGERIA.

I have come to notice and thereby realize the sport betting craze disturbing the future of the youths of this nation. It's now a normal thing to say "if you no fit do Yahoo Yahoo, play naira bet." [Read WHY I WOULD NEVER WANNA BE A YAHOO BOY!]. Some are even doing both. Yeah, I can't deny the fact that it's all about fun. But, considering the level of joblessness this fun is causing, it's no longer seen as fun.

You see many of these jobless boys/men wake up early in the morning without even brushing their mouths, they head towards any sport betting shop.....forecast for hours and then use the remaining N100 in their entire life to play. After that, you see them walking all over the streets looking for who to lend money for food, promising the person they'll pay back once they win the bet....of which they never win.

It's really really annoying. Now, students of secondary schools and higher institutions are already becoming victims of this tragedy - using their upkeep fee/school fee to play sport bet. Most students have gone broke as a result of this. Many husbands have become irresponsible as a result of this. Most fathers have become so useless as a result of this.

My father said this about soccer bet - "We are already going back to the days of pool". And it's the truth. Many homes were scattered as a result of the olden days' pool game. And on the contrary, this same pool game settled some homes back then. My father told me it was their fathers who played the game not them the youths. He said their fathers played it wisely, the unfortunate ones are the fathers who weren't wise in playing the game. Na that pool game dem modify to be sport bet. Many youths don see am as job, na wetin dem dey do everyday be that.

There is this councilor in my Local Government who comes to my father's house regularly. He played 1960bet, he and his wife had fought over this so many times. He comes to our house to forecast so as to avoid his wife's troubles. He didn't want my dad to know, but such a thing can't be hidden. As a councilor, he played heavily using over 50K to play. He did this thrice a week....thatz 150K going into the account of 1960bet without buying or selling anything.

He played for weeks. Luckily for him, he won a bet and received over 360K....that was his 1st and last. All of it was used to pay the debts of the weekly 150K.....that is to say  no be him get the 150K em dey use play the game. Na borrow dem dey borrow am. He got no gain from the 360K. My father warned him to stop, he no gree. His salary & allowance is the one paying his bank loans. No business or investment for hand. He kept on borrowing and losing. As I dey write this, he is no where to be found.....all his creditors are fiercely looking for him. More and more similar cases arise everyday.

I read this on a tract given to me in my church:
"My opinion is that addiction is addiction whether to alcohol, coffee or football. The passion with which some of us watch or follow football and footballers bothers me - especially when the same people do not exhibit half as much passion for the things of God. In some cases, wives and husbands have given up their premier position to football 'premiership'. I wonder how these things are in the eyes of God - especially as we cannot talk of edification or expediency when it come to these sports"

Sincerely, it's not edifying in any way but instead bring problems and debts upon debts. In this game, people win and people lose. But, the number of people losing are much more greater than the number of people winning.

Yes, it has provided employment to some extent and thatz a very good one for the nation. And I wanna emphasis that there's nothing wrong with the game. The only problem is the players.....they channel all their strengths, responsibilities, finances and efforts to this game wrongly.

My father again said "Women are already taking top positions in this country simply because men are no longer serious. All they are interested in is SPORTS."

As far as I'm fucking concerned, I hate sports (Read WHY I REALLY DON'T LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT SPORTS!] and I hate everything related to it. I no get time to dey argue over one player wey go dey Europe dey earn billions of pounds. I no fit dey stress myself ontop one club wey no even sabi me as one of their fans.
