SUNDAY SPECIAL: HOW ARE YOU USING YOUR TALENT?

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus Christ spoke a parable about the TALENTS. The Bible says a man was traveling to a far country and he called his servants and gave them talents. (v 14). That explains that God gave everyone talents and gifts. In this post, I would be explaining to you in detail how the parable of the talents can affect your life positively, the lessons to be learnt.

The parable of the talent is one of my favorite parable in the Bible and it contains lots of lessons for us to learn. In the parable of the talent. Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus made us to understand that THEY WERE ALL GIVEN TALENTS. To the first servants, 5 talents, the second 2 talents and the third 1 talent according to their ABILITY.

This further explains that ALL HUMANS on the surface of this earth are talented. We were all given gifts and talents by our creator. The big question is how do we use these gifts? What do we do with our talents? You must realize that talents doesn't refer to "MONEY". If before now, you have been reading that parable and thought that the talents given to those servants were money, then you should better have a rethink.

If talents refer to money, then the master should have given all the servants the same amount. But he gave them according to their ability. That explains it all, that though, we were all gifted and talented, but some are more gifted than the others and that our gifts are different. The bottom line is the more your gifts, the more your responsibility, because to him that much is given, much is expected.

In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). The master gave his servants talents and went on a journey. The talents given to them doesn't mean money, that you know now. BUT WHAT DID THE SERVANTS DO WITH THE TALENTS? (v. 16-17) "Then he that had received the five talents went and TRADE with the same and made them other five talents. And likewise he that has received two, he also gained other two". The first two servants TRADED with their talents.

To TRADE with their talents means, "THEY RECOGNIZE THEIR GIFTS AND STARTED MAKING USE OF IT" Both servants knew what their gifts were, they knew their strength and spent time developing their gifts, using it to impact lives and make a difference. And in no time, they were known and became noble people - "Their gifts made way for them"

Like the two servants who traded with their gifts, you must learn to do the same, recognize your gifts and start making use of them. I know the question most people would ask me is "HOW DO I RECOGNIZE MY TALENTS & GIFTS?"

The Bible says, "Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them another five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained another two" (Matthew25:16-17). Note the word "TRADED WITH THEIR TALENTS" this doesn't mean buying and selling. It simply means that the two servants who TRADED with their talents "DISCOVERED THEIR GIFTS AND MADE USE OF THEM TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, AND IN DOING THIS, THEY HAD FRUITS TO SHOW"

NOW, HOW I RECOGNIZE MY GIFTS?
You want to know. The answer is simple? Just answer the following questions:
1. What do you love and enjoy doing?
2. Do you do it with ease and without anyone forcing you?
3. Would you still do what you love doing if you weren't paid for doing it?
4. Where lies your passion and strength?
5. As a kid, have your parents ever mentioned an area/areas that you were OUTSTANDING IN?
6. What motivates you and drives you towards doing it? Hope its not money?

As a young boy, I love writing and reading, I have a good handwriting and I also love teaching others. So I know I have a gift of teaching and writing. Combining both gifts made me A SUPERSTAR because I WRITE like a TEACHER, explaining every detail and making my reader grab the Message.
