FINDING LOVE THROUGH BETRAYAL - EPISODE 6 [BY TEE SILVA]

Welcome to the 6th Episode:

I knocked the door and Sanzy opened.
"Hello girlfriend" she said.
"Hello" I replied.
"Mike's here" she whispered.
"So? Is Jane not in?" I asked her.
Sanzy - "No, she's not in and he said he came here for you not Jane"
Me - "How's that possible? Didn't you tell him I traveled?"
Sanzy - "I did but he insisted on waiting since you were coming back today"
Me - "Okay then".

I walked in and there he sat in the living room with his legs crossed. He looked as handsome as ever and my heart skipped a beat when he looked up at me.
Mike - "Hi Angela, I've been waiting for you"
Me - "Hi Mike, why were you waiting?"
Mike - "We need to talk"
Me - "Talk? About what?"
Mike - "About...em...yesterday"
Me - "Mike, I don't want to talk about it, and I don't want you coming here to look for me either. Jane is your girlfriend, how do you think she'll feel coming to her house to look for someone else? So please, if you will excuse me I just came back and I need a rest"
Mike - "Okay, I'll go but I'll come back"
Me - "Don't even think about it"
Mike - "I'll definitely come back Angela, we're not through yet", with that he went out of the house and I stood transfixed as I watched him go.

"Are you sure you don't want him to come back?", Sanzy asked.
Me - "Of course not. He shouldn't dare", I turned in to my room.

Just as I was undressing, I heard Jane's voice in the living room.
"I saw Mike driving out when I was driving in and he didn't even wait to talk to me. What was he doing here Sanzy? Is that bitch back? Answer me, she's back right? Did he come to see her? Where is that bitch?"
She was coming near my door now.
"Hey bitch, what was mike doing here?", She yelled.
Me - "Jane, why are you asking me that? Can't you see I'm just getting home?"
Jane - "I don't care if you are just getting home or not, all I care about is Mike. What was he doing here?"
"How am I to know? Why not call your boyfriend and ask him or do you not have his mobile number?", I shot back at her.
Jane - "Angela don't play innocent with me. I know you and Mike are up to something, and I'm definitely gonna find out"
Me - "Good luck in your adventure, girlfriend. Now if you will excuse me. Please use the door, I need you out of my room", she went out of my room and I closed the door.

On monday morning, Sanzy drove us both to work. The rest of the week went with no special event. I went to my parents home for the weekend and I met my car. It was an Honda and dad had chosen the perfect colour for me, it was a dark blue. I love my car even though I was not happy with dad. Mum seemed to notice my unhappiness, so she asked me:
"Aren't you happy with your gift dear?"
"Of course she's happy, can't you see the way she's drooling over it?", Dad answered before I could, so I kept mute.

I was happy with the gift but not with the giver of the gift. I went back to my apartment and my friends were all in love with my car. Sanzy said she wanted to test drive it so I gave her the keys. Jane only said nice car and went to her room. I told sanzy I needed to take ice cream, we asked Jane to join us but she declined. So Sanzy and I drove down to the nearest fast food and while we were eating our meal, Sanzy said:
"I have something for you Angela"
"What is that?" I asked.
She brought out a piece of paper from her purse and handed it to me.
"A mobile number? Whose?" I asked
Sanzy - "Mike's"

My spoon fell off from my hand.
"What am I to do with it Sanzy? I asked.
"Well I don't know, but he came around while you were away and asked for your contact which I refused to give so he dropped his own instead" she explained.
"I'm not going to call him" I said slowly.
"Why not?" Sanzy asked.
Me - "Did I just hear you say why not? Of course I'm not gonna call him"
"And I asked why not" she replied.
I just stared at her. What was she insinuating.
"Are you suggesting that I call him?" I asked
Sanzy - "Why shouldn't you? I mean...you are in love with this guy and he seem to feel the same way. He has even ignored Jane completely because of you"
Me - "And who told you I'm in love with him?"
Sanzy - "I'm not a kid babe. I saw the way you looked at him last weekend when he came around. Many times last week you were always lost in thought, you've never been this distracted since I've known you. You even said his name from your sleep on Thursday"
Me - "I said his name from my sleep? Why didn'tyou tell me?" She ignored my question.
Sanzy - "You obviously must have been dreaming about him. Dear girlfriend, there is no doubt about it, you are in love with Mike".

In love? That can't be. I've never fallen in love but I can be in love and definitely not with Mike. But what if it's true? That attraction, that racing of the heart anytime I see him, that constant thought of him, and those dreams about him. I shook at the realization that I was in love.
"Well since you've gotten it all figured out that I'm in love with him, hope you also remember that he's our dear friend's boyfriend and that will be creating enmity between Jane and I", I said
Sanzy - "Jane doesn't love Mike, in fact she doesn't need him. And Mike is ready to end whatsoever relationship he has with Jane to be with you"
Me - "No, this isn't good at all. I can't afford to destroy what friendship I have with Jane because of a man"
Sanzy - "Okay. But think about it. Even if you won't call him now, keep the number, you may want to call him later. Okay?"
Me - "Okay girlfriend. Thanks. Can we get going now? It's late"
Sanzy - "Yea but let's get Jane a cup of ice cream"
Me - "Sure, go on".

I stared at the piece of paper in my hand, I tucked it in my purse and stood up. Sanzy came back from the counter and we headed for the car. After settling in the car, Sanzy said:
"Angela I really like this your ride"
"Well it's a bribe from my dad so I won't tell my mum what I saw in the hotel" I replied
Sanzy - "Really? You mean your dad went this far? Then he must really love your mum and doesn't want to lose her"
Me - "That's what he claims"
"That's what men are my dear. Its a nice car though. I think I should catch my dad too, maybe it would get him to change my car", Sanzy said and we both laughed at the joke.

When we got home, I went to my room and after saying goodnight to my friends, I brought out Mike's number and dialed.
"Hello...", I heard Mike's voice at the other end of the line.
"Hello this is Angela" I replied
Mike - "Oh Angela, so nice to hear from you. I was afraid you wouldn't call"
"Well I did. So why did you want me to call?" I asked.
"Because...because I miss you Angela", I heard him say.
I was quiet for a while.
"Hello, are you there?" He asked.
Me - "Yes I'm here"
Mike - "You didn't respond"
Me - "What do you expect me to say?"
Mike - "Nothing really"
Me - "Okay then goodnight"
Mike - "Alright dear, I appreciate your call and I promise I'll return your call. Goodnight".
"Okay" I said and dropped the call before I would say more than I wanted to.

My sleep that night was filled with dreams of Mike. When I woke up I saw his text message on my phone "Have a wonderful day charming beauty", I read and smiled. I took my bath and I drove down to work. Everyone in the office was excited about my new car and so the day went.

On Wednesday evening while I was watching my favorite telenovela, my phone rang and it was Mike...
