First of all, I'd like to appreciate MTN for the wonderful "Xtra time" service they offered us their subscribers. The new MTN Xtra Time let you borrow airtime and repay once you recharge and it's only available for those few subscriber's eligible.. When I saw the advert on TV....I really didn't like it....Me was forming big boy sey I no fit borrow credit na.....maka why? Patapata, I no go call. But, when kasala burst wey carry wahala for head....I gatz no choice than to borrow oooo....
It was around 2am in the morning when my dad rushed into my room calling my name "Yimika! Yimika!! Yimika!!!" I sprung up from my bed and asked what's up. He asked if I had credit on my phone that he needed to quickly make an urgent call. I checked my balance, I no get any credit.
I asked who he wanted to call and why, by this time of the day. He then told me armed robbers are at my Uncle's house, he's the only one at home and they have already injured him. He wanted to call the Oba of our town to please send the vigilantes in his palace to my Uncle's house.
My brother who was pretending to be sleeping quickly jumped up on hearing this. Him too no get credit for em phone. My papa don dey panic.....where we wan see recharge card buy for this time now? As a sharp good (not bad) guy, I remembered the MTN Xtra Time stuff. I quickly collected my dad's phone and borrowed N100 for him.i gave him his phone and authoritatively told him to make the call.....he was wondering what kinda magic I had done to his phone. My brother had already known what I did.
He put a call through to Kabiyesi and in like 15minutes, we don dey hear "faafun faafun faafun....waun waun waun" - the vigilante's van siren. My father whispered "Very good". Kabiyesi called back to inform my dad that he had sent his securities to my Uncle's place.
My dad called my Uncle's driver to know how far, we were made to know that the thieves fled when the securities arrived. They went with NOTHING. But left my Uncle wounded gidigan. The vigilantes rescued my Uncle by rushing him to the hospital.
My dad kan later ask me wetin I do wey credit enter him phone. Then I introduced him to MTN Xtra Time. Thank God for MTN. Me wey dey always talk bad about MTN before sey dem be the Most Terrible Network.....Na me dey preach dem gospel everywhere now oooo.
God bless MTN,
God bless the Vigilantes,
God bless the Olofin of Ilisan,
God bless me and
God bless you all! AMEN.
