Welcome to the 5th Episode, ENJOY:

We moved into the structure called home, I and Favour managed the little we had and life was very hard on us. Every morning I'll go to the park and beg a driver to be his conductor for the day, just to earn the meager amount of money that I used to cater for our needs, some days I could not find who to hire me at the park, I would go join labourers at any building site and then join either in carrying bags of cement or moulded blocks or fetching water for their usage. These jobs couldn't cater most times for three square meals as I managed to buy a second hand sewing machine for Favour, she learnt sewing back at the motherless baby home and this to me really helped.

One evening on my way back from helping out in a building site, from afar right in front my house I could see Uche an Okada rider that lives in the same slum with us cuddling Favour as she giggled away in laughter. I was overwhelmed with anger and jealousy as I rushed towards them with speed, when I got there I pushed Uche away from Favour and then grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and squeezed it so hard that he choked and his eyes turned red as it popped out. When he saw that death was imminent, he began to struggle to cut himself loose of my grip as Favour tried to drag my hand off Uche's neck. When she saw that I was resolute with my decision to choke Uche to death, that was when she placed her mouth on my hand and then sent her sharp teeth into my flesh, biting me so hard with all her strength that I had to let go of Uche who then tried to fight back but was quickly held by the huge crowd that had gathered.

Fighting in the ghetto is the only live show those in slum get to watch, that's why any little brawl a large crowd is readily available to gather, different people choosing sides as they cheer those fighting.

That night I could not sleep nor eat for I rejected the beans and garri she served me, my tummy was bellow of hot anger as I felt betrayed. Favour knew how angry I was as she refused to come into the house to sleep, she stayed out in the front of the house sitting on a bench and nodding her head to the heavy sleep that had engulfed her being. I stood up and opened the door, she didn't even notice my presence beside her because she was fast asleep. I touched her on the shoulder and she almost jumped out of the chair as she shouted
FAVOUR: JESUS!!!
ME: {Grabbing her hand} what were you doing with Uche today?
FAVOUR: Felix, I wouldn't lie to you for a day for you and I have become more than friends.
ME: Really now I'm a friend to you?
FAVOUR: Let's not go there sincerely, lets call a spade what it is, its been 6months since we moved in here and not even for one day have you touched me.
ME: Is that your problem?
FAVOUR: You can't, because deep down you see me as a sister and that same way is how I see you.
ME: Lord have mercy.
FAVOUR: we are both BORN WITHOUT AN IDENTITY and I don't want my kids to be born in such circumstance too, Felix I need an Identity!

Those words like an aboki dagger pierced through my soul, I never knew having an identity meant something to someone who was of the same circumstances like me, I laid on my mat that night with a sober heart, I cried bitterly as Favour walked in, picked her few things and left for Uche's house. I couldn't blame her but I felt this rage of bitterness and the feeling of being dumped. I made a resolution that night that I would do anything possible to have an identity, to be someone people would want to identify with.

*****************************

Two months gone and yet it seem everything was turning from bad to worse, until I was hired to go build a house in the upscale area of Lekki, that was when I met Sam, he was popularly called "Do things" and he was the owner of the house we were building as he picked a particular interest in me because I was the youngest amongst all the labourers  working for him. Whenever he comes around he would call me and then hand his phones over to me while I follow him at the back as he inspects his project.

On this particular day, Sam came as usual and gave me his phones to hold for him while he inspects his building, by the time we got to the second floor of the three storey building, his phone beeped and out of my over curiousity I pressed a button on his phone and then said to him
ME: Oga Sam, e be like say you get email notification for your phone

He seem surprised as he turned, quickly took the phone from me. When he was through with reading his mail, he turned to me with his eyes peering through the glasses he wore.
SAM: Felix, who taught you about emails?
ME: {smiling and trying to tell him that i am brilliant} Oga i sabi computer well well o, if no be situation I for no dey here dey do konkiri work, for my class na me be the best computer student for SS3 dat time.

He kept smiling as he handed his phones to me and turned to leave and said
SAM: Felix, follow me.

Sam took me to his house and gave me a room in his mansion, told me that I'll be placed on a salary of hundred thousand a month, all I had to do was stay indoors all day in an air conditioned room with a cook at my beck and call, all I had to do was check his mail on a laptop that he gave me.

As weeks turned into months I realized that Oga Sam was into internet fraud and that's where he makes the money that he throws around town.
